Over the last ten years our world has changed in so many ways, and we have watched many natural disasters that have affected our lives in so many different ways. So much humanitarian suffering has lead to an unprecedented AID effort from those that have to those who have not, and time and time again humanitarian AID has changed the lives of those in such dire need from some traumatic source of pain and suffering.
However, at times, huge numbers of people can fall into harm’s way without a national disaster alerting the world’s media and capturing the attention of the Disaster Appeal Agencies. Through no fault of their own, people can suddenly find themselves without family, shelter, protection or anyway of fending for themselves in a hostile and unfriendly world.
Safe Haven Trust works for children who find themselves in such a predicament right now in Zimbabwe. The United Nations estimates that in excess of 2.1 million children in Zimbabwe have been orphaned to an AIDS epidemic unlike anywhere else in the world. In a country still facing political uncertainty, help for these children does not come from government funding, and anyone working to support, clothe, feed, shelter, educate and provide health facilities for these children do so by support through private funding by agencies such as ours.
Even with the help that reaches Zimbabwe, we are told by our sources on the ground that maybe only a third of the children in need get any sort of help. That means that in excess of one million children are left to fend for themselves on a daily basis. Through no fault of their own, these precious lives hang in the balance, with no Disaster Fund Appeal to help secure the much needed AID that can change their lives.
We fully understand that those effected by such devastating circumstances brought on by a natural disaster deserve your help just as much as the children we campaign for, however what we are saying is that without our work these children do not have a voice. Please help us to continue with our efforts to help make a change for the better in Zimbabwe. Help us to make a difference in Zimbabwe and give a generation of children fighting to survive, hope, safety and a sanctuary to grow up in. Your donation will help to support long term projects on the ground in Zimbabwe, and give a child a home.
